On July 2, 2026, the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections Office teamed up with Flagler Schools to bring a unique, hands-on civic experience to local children as part of the nation’s 250th America’s Birthday celebrations. To give students a taste of the democratic process, the Elections Office utilized a specialized online voting system. This platform intentionally mirrors the technology Flagler County students already use for standard school campus elections, such as choosing class officers, voting for homecoming court, and other student government positions. Instead of candidates running for local office, however, the young voters weighed in on their own cultural favorites. The special anniversary ballot featured several pop-culture and patriotic categories, allowing the children to vote on their favorite:

  • YouTuber
  • Movie
  • Video Game
  • Superhero
  • Official Symbol - to represent America for the milestone 250th celebration

By using a familiar digital ballot to vote on topics relevant to their everyday lives, the event successfully introduced the next generation of Flagler County voters to the importance of civic engagement and electoral participation in a fun, relatable way.
