What is Florida's 6th Congressional District?
The United States House of Representatives, commonly referred to as the House, is one of the two chambers of the United States Congress. The other is the US Senate.
There are 28 Congressional districts in Florida, each represented by a member of the United States House of Representatives. The number of Florida's seats increased from 27 to 28 after the 2020 census, due to the state's increase in population.
All of Flagler County is within Florida's 6th Congressional district, which also includes all or portions of St. Johns, Putnam, Marion, Lake, and Volusia County.

US Representative Waltz resigned effective January 20, 2025. A special election has been called to fill the upcoming vacancy in Congressional District 6. This is a partisan office and a countywide election, which will include both a Primary and General.

Any registered voter may choose to Vote-By-Mail. The deadline to request a Vote-By-Mail ballot is March 20, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Vote-by-Mail ballots must be received in the Elections Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters may place a request for a mail ballot by phone, (386) 313-4170 or online: Request a mail ballot.
Many voters in our county prefer to vote by mail for the convenience of voting from home, due to work, travel, transportation, or health reasons. We mail ballots all over the world to overseas citizens and our military service members who are serving overseas. Florida has been a no-excuse absentee (also known as Vote-By-Mail) state for over 20 years. Election Day Voting
Election Day voters must vote in their assigned polling place. Polls are always open from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM on Election Day. If you voted early in a previous election and now wish to vote on Election Day, the early voting site may not be your assigned precinct. Florida law states you must vote in the precinct where you live. Any voter who refuses to go to their assigned polling location on Election Day will be issued a provisional ballot. Refer to your Voter Information Card to find the name and address of your polling place or use our Precinct Finder.
Election Day Precinct Changes
Due to the unexpected timing of this Special Election, our polling sites on school property are not available. During our regularly scheduled election years, the coordination of the school calendar includes Election Day as a day off for students due to safety concerns. Our partnership with the Flagler County School District is an important one, because we simply do not have alternative voting site locations in our county with adequate space and parking. If you normally vote at a school on Election Day, please check your polling place location before you vote during these Special Elections.
These changes will not affect voters who choose to cast their ballot early or by mail.
